This blog post is based on personal opinion, of course, I try to take into consideration the different needs of each dog/dog owner, however, don’t come for me of you disagree, but do let me know, I always love to learn!
As a preface: please know that many dog experts and professionals don’t recommend going to dog parks due to socializing hazards. Be sure that your puppy had had all its shots and is cleared by its vet for socializing with other dogs. Always keep an eye on your pets and never leave your dog unattended at the park. Know your dog, if your pup is overstimulated or had enough, you will know, read the signs, don’t force your dog to interact with others and be mindful for the same with other people’s dogs.
OFFICER LUCY DOG PARK - Houston Dog Park Review
Watch our IG LIVE Park review of Officer Lucy Dog Park here
The Officer Lucy Dog Park in Bellaire, just within the inner loop just off of Newcastle and Beechnut, caught my eye especially when I found out that Officer Lucy was a bloodhound K9 detective with the Bellaire PD. If a dog park is named after a four legged buddy, I wanna check that out, for sure!
Not far from my home I did have to go by car but was happy to see there were enough parking spots when I arrived. Warning, The parking area is only small and I could imagine that on busy weekend you might struggle to find a parking spot right in front of the park.
Also, I felt akward taking Missy to a park right next to the dog pound imagining all sorts of cruel things happening on the other side of the wall.
So here’s the tea about the Officer Lucy dog park:
This dog park is cute. It’s not huge, but it is big enough for your dog to run a couple of zoomies, meet other dogs and have valuable interactions with you.
Well maintained, you will find many toys lying around. There are even small baskets hung up along the fence with tennis balls and toys to use. So charming!
Seating: There are only few benches but many lawn chairs available, that people have brought.
Most awesome features at Officer Lucy Dog Park:
The community that helps maintain the park hung up a leash holder. Super fancy !
The dog park has very clear signs indicating that children are strictly prohibited.
I like it. But then again, I don’t have children. I am the millennial dog mom that gets annoyed when boomers bring their screaming shits into the park. So thank you!
There is no pool or water feature. However, there is a water hose that people use to fill buckets and I was told in summer someone had brought a plastic kiddie pool in the past.
There are drinking fountains for dogs and humans, however.
PROS:
The agility cours with several different elements that make it fun spending time with your dog trying to get them jump over and sprint through.
Trees for shade
CONS:
No water feature – but this of course personal preferene. Missy loves water, if your pooch is not a water fan, then this is not an issue, of course.
relatively small size
few parking spots right by the park, other available spots shared with family park.
Summary:
The Officer Lucy Dog Park in Bellaire is a wonderful neighborhood dog park for sure if you live in the area but not worth an extra trip if you live outside the loop.
With its wonderful obstacle features it gives you an opportunity to engage with your dog more than just the good old throw and fetch.

4337 Lafayette in Bellaire

DANNY JACKSON Dog Park - Houston Dog Park Review
Watch our IG LIVE Park review of Danny Jackson Dog Park here
The Danny Jackson Family Dog Park is our go-to and neighborhood park. In the winter we walk over to it, located along Westpark, at the intersection of the south Loop.
First things first: It is big! 2.76 acre to be exact.
The parking lot is big! And it’s divided into two big parts. Even the small dog park side for dogs under 20lbs is luxuriously sized, especially considering it’s location so conveniently situated along the I59/I610 intersection. Danny Jackson is tops! Some of my dog park friends are driving all the way from mid town every day to visit this park with their pooch!
The Big Dog Park Side of Danny Jackson Family Bark Park.
The big dog park side of Danny Jackson Family Bark Park to the left of the entrance is announced as 0.8 miles. Its’s a long strip with plenty of room along the long path for dogs to sniff, run and play. About Half way down the way lies a generous sized pool for dogs to swim and wade.
Small Dog Park Side of Danny Jackson Family Bark Park.
At the far end of the small dog park side after strolling under plenty of shading trees lies the pool fountain. A great round pool with what seems like a little stream leading to the drain. Plenty of water activities with a shaded pavilion with plenty of seating benches right by it.
What is Special about the Danny Jackson Dog Park?
Big Water washing station with 4 spots, two different size hoses
PROS:
Lots of Shade and Trees
Seating Pavillions
Big small and big dog park sides
Big Pools on both sides
Water washing station with 4 spots, two different size hoses
Big parking lot
CONS:
The park is situated under electric lines and right by a main road. Once you’re there you don’t even notice anymore, but worth mentioning, I suppose.
Can get very crowded to peak times.

PAWM SPRINGS Dog Park in Sugarland - Houston Dog Park Review
Paw Rating 4,5 out 5
Sugarland’s Pawm Springs Dog Park is an elaborate areal that truly deserves the title park. Situated just off 610 on University Blvd. this big dog park is right between …..
The Big Dog Park Side of Sugarland’s Pawm Springs Dog Park
This area is an elaborate park for the dogs to run free. Especially the far park side is extremely wide and open.
With the gorgeous water pool area with its shower feature and beautiful palm trees it offers steep edges for swimming dogs but also a big shallow area for dogs to wade.- perfect for my little non-swimmer Missy who loves water.
The Small Dog Park Side of Sugarland’s Pawm Springs Dog Park
The small dog park side at Paw Springs Dog Park is spacious and even has agility equipment to train your little pooch.
