ABOUT THE PRETTY, THE MUTT AND THE PRETTY MUTT
Missy Moo Minou
Missy is a huge bundle of Texan joy and certified “super mutt”. While she enjoys getting camera ready in her signature stoic pose, she is a mega goofball and will make anyone laugh with her famous twirls when she plays with other dogs.
It was love at first sight when Karen and Dan, her future human parents, saw Missy’s profile (back then known as “Marley”) on the Houston Cares Animal Rescue website. Abandoned at 10 weeks in a veterinarian’s office, she patiently sat in a chair in the waiting room for somebody to notice her, she may have just been waiting for Karen and Dan…
Missy always has kisses to share and enjoys spending her time snuggling on the sofa with her humans and exploring the sights and smells of Houston, TX.
Her favorite food is carrot, but Missy is yet to find a food she does not love (though she is currently dubiously tasting pumpkin puree for the first time).
Karen O’Shaughnessy
Born in Charleston, SC to German parents, Karen’s childhood was split between Charleston and Bamberg in Germany, a picturesque town in Bavaria. Her bilingual and multicultural upbringing introduced Karen to many adventures to tell and many doggos around the world to pet. She knew then that animals would be in her life forever.
Karen went on to study Theater and Media and after graduation pursued a career in the Fashion business, travelling the (fashion) world and living her best life in Hamburg, Germany.
In Spring 2019, just a few short months after getting hitched, Karen and her British husband Dan made the big move to Houston, TX. Deciding that after 6 weeks a transatlantic move was not stressful enough, Karen and Dan saw Missy online and from there the rest is history.
The Pretty Mutt Mission
We believe every single dog is gorgeous. Every dog is pretty.
Karen’s mission with “The Pretty Mutt” is to offer pet parents a friend that understands the struggle and the joy of having a pet and opens up new perspectives on our everyday life with our best friends and fur babies.
While she could have made better decisions than getting a pup at the start of a Houston summer, Karen never regrets it. At times, it was very tough and overwhelming and some online research for assistance were in vain, as she could just not find the right resource that appealed to her need for pretty aesthetics and valuable advice for dog parents. She is striving to offer the blog she wished she found when she first became a dog mom accommodating her interests in DIY, Sustainability and Fashion paired with all things dog.
